Photo of handwritten notes → clean text
Photograph a page of handwriting and get the same content back as typed, structured notes you can search, paste and revise from.
Handwriting is where digital notes break down: you wrote it in a lecture, it stayed on paper, and it is invisible to every tool you use afterwards.
A vision model reads the page — including lists, headings and reading order — and rewrites it as text. Tables and diagrams are described in a line or two rather than reconstructed, so treat those as a summary, not a copy.
What the output looks like
Real output: 0 characters of handwritten-style notes in, 6360 characters of clean text out, 32.2 seconds. Excerpt below, unedited.
### Water splitting and the origin of O₂ PSII splits water: 2H₂O → 4H⁺ + 4e⁻ + O₂. The emphasised consequence is that the O₂ produced comes from **water, not CO₂**. ### Proton gradient and ATP synthase - Lumen pH ≈ 5; stroma pH ≈ 8. - The stored gradient across the membrane is described as the "battery" that powers ATP synthesis. - The note "= 1000x difference, that's the battery" is struck through in the source — treat the 1000× figure as withdrawn/uncertain, while the pH values themselves are given as stated. -
Who it is for
- Typing up handwritten lecture notes so they can be searched
- Rescuing notes from a notebook that is about to fall apart
- Sharing what you wrote with someone who cannot read your handwriting
Not a good fit: Dense cursive, crossed-out lines, and pencil on grey paper - expect errors and check the numbers.
Three things that improve the result
- Shoot straight down, with the page flat and evenly lit. A shadow across the middle costs words.
- Write one page per photo. Facing pages in one shot get merged line by line.
- Check every number and name in the result against the page. Digits are the first thing to go wrong.
How it works
- Photograph the page straight on, with even light. Avoid shadows across the text.
- Upload the image (PNG, JPG or WebP).
- Check the transcription against the page before you rely on it — handwriting recognition is good, not perfect.
Questions
How legible does the handwriting need to be?
Neat handwriting transcribes well. Heavy cursive, mixed scripts, or a photo taken at an angle will lose words — check the output.
Does it handle maths?
Formulas come through as text approximations. For heavy notation, treat the result as an index into the page, not a replacement.
Is my photo stored?
No. It is deleted from disk as soon as processing finishes.
