An EPUB chapter in, notes you can revise from

Upload an EPUB and get structured notes for the chapter: headings, key points, the definitions and the numbers that carry the argument — without re-reading the book on a screen.

EPUB keeps a book's structure: chapters, headings, paragraphs, no page-number guesswork. That structure is what makes notes from a book better than notes from a PDF — the converter sees the chapter breaks and keeps them.

One chapter at a time works best. A whole book runs past the point where a single set of notes stays useful, and this tool reads up to 400,000 characters. DRM-protected books cannot be opened at all: the file has to be DRM-free.

What the output looks like

Real output: a three-chapter EPUB reader in, 5613 characters of notes out, 22.2 seconds. Unedited:

# Memory: a short reader

## TL;DR
This reader summarizes core concepts of memory storage, retrieval, and retention. Long-term memory is dynamic rather than a storehouse of static records, meaning every act of retrieval alters the underlying trace. Because of this, active testing and spaced study schedules outperform rereading and massed practice. Working memory limitations and interference effects can be managed through chunking and interleaving related problem types.

## Key points
- Long-term memory does not store fixed copies; every retrieval rewrites the memory trace.
- Ebbinghaus measured savings in relearning in 1885.
- Working memory capacity is roughly four chunks.
- Chunking decrea

Who it is for

  • A non-fiction chapter you have to discuss in a seminar
  • Turning a DRM-free book into notes you can search
  • Reading on a laptop without a Kindle app

Not a good fit: DRM-protected books, and books that are mostly figures — images are not described.

Three things that improve the result

  1. Split the book into chapters first; notes on one chapter keep the argument intact.
  2. The converter keeps chapter headings from the EPUB, so ask for the output in the book's own language when the terms matter.
  3. For a diagram, upload a screenshot as an image — the vision path reads the labels.

How it works

  1. Upload the .epub file — a chapter-sized file gives the sharpest notes.
  2. Pick the language you want the notes in; it does not have to match the book.
  3. Read the notes, copy them, or download them as Markdown.

Questions

Can I upload a Kindle or DRM-protected book?

No. DRM-encrypted EPUBs cannot be read by the converter, and it will say so instead of returning half a chapter. DRM-free EPUBs, including books exported from stores that sell them without DRM, work normally.

Should I upload the whole book?

A chapter at a time gives sharper notes. The tool accepts up to 40 MB and 400,000 characters, but notes on a whole book blur into a summary of the book rather than a study aid for the chapter you are examined on.

Are pictures and diagrams kept?

No. Text is extracted; images are not described. If a diagram matters, upload a screenshot of it as an image and the vision model will transcribe its labels.

Which languages does it handle?

Any language the EPUB contains, plus fourteen output languages. Technical terms and proper nouns stay in their original spelling.
